How boring. I am still packing! I hope to have the bulk of it all done by Monday, and then I will have a 4-day break. Anything not done at that stage can still be sorted out next weekend and beyond. I have been sleeping on the floor on a foam mattress for a week now and have very little left in the kitchen.

The next hurdle is to sell the car. I intend to go to the car fair tomorrow and put it on Trade Me after that.

I am still not clear if anyone can view this..... or comment.....or even if I can access and write on it once I am in China. All yet to be revealed!

OK, I hope a few of you will tell me how everyone can comment on my blogs.

Trade Me (like Ebay) has been slow and people say they will be here to pick things up and then don't show up. Hence the need to get things listed early and be prepared to store them if the prices don't meet expectation. Right now I am hoping to sell the wall unit, piano and a few things I have yet to list. My bed was supposed to go today, but they didn't come, so I have at least another night's reprieve. (Haaa, haaa. I will be on a foam mattress on the floor for a month!) My car will be the big one - and very time-sensitive.

On the very positive side, my visa documentation arrived on Friday, so I will get that underway with the consulate tomorrow.

Oh yes, I did a practice run again with the breadmaker and I woke up to the delightful smells of baking bread this morning. AND it was not like a brick this time!!! So now that this has been achieved, the breadmaker has been packed into a box.

Yes, I should be packing but instead I decided to see if I could start a blog. I wasn't going to but since Facebook is probably out for me in China, a number of people have talked me into blogging. I guess it is a sensible option and I will add photos as I go along.

The new adventure started 2 months ago with a job offer - in Shanghai! It still seems like a dream and I have to pinch myself every so often. However, the emails seem to arrive just as I am sure I am imagining this exciting adventure, and I am reassured that it is for real!

Right now packing is for real - far too real in my mind! I have packed 27 boxes to ship and about 10 to store and there is so much more to sort through and pack. Note to self - stop hoarding like a pack rat!
